In August 2008, the Palmerton Area Historical Society hosted an Open House to celebrate the new location and the renovation of the PAHS Archives as well as its endeavor to preserve history through technology. The event was held at the Borough Hall in Palmerton, PA and consisted of an awards ceremony, several PowerPoint presentations explaining the changes occurring within the Society in reference to the Archives, an exhibit of rarely seen documents and artifacts, a tour of the new Archives, and refreshments.

The AWARDS CEREMONY was dedicated to the following business and individuals for providing services to assist the Society with the Archives project.

Each PRESENTATION identified the way the Society had been working and the reasons why it was seeking change. Record keeping backlogs in addition to limited storage and work space were of particular concern. Images revealed the limitations of the current environment . Audience members were given a demonstration of the new PastPerfect Museum Software along with an explanation of how the technology would better preserve the Mission Area's heritage and make the Archives more accessible.
