Since its opening in 2005, the Palmerton Area Heritage Center has been able to remain open to the public due to the dedication of a group of faithful volunteers. These volunteers answer questions, conduct tours, handle the sale of merchandise, and provide a variety of helpful information to the visitors that come into the Center. The information provided might include the name of a good place to eat or directions to a particular spot in the area.
The hours of operation are:
Wednesday 12:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Thursday 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Friday 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Typical shifts during the hours of operation are two hours in length. Some of the volunteers even choose to serve on different days and at different times several times a month; however, most of the volunteers prefer a steady schedule.
While Jean Bechdolt has the distinction of being the first person to volunteer from the time the Heritage Center opened, other volunteers who have faithfully served over the years include:
