This documentary of the history of Palmerton is one of our most popular items. The video, which recounts the history of Palmerton, includes interviews with lifelong Palmerton residents, old file footage of the Lehigh Canal and before and after scenes around Palmerton.

The Palmerton Area Historical Society and Blue Ridge Communications TV Channel 13 produced this video in 1999, initially as a video cassette. Funds for the production were made available in the form of a Local History Grant of $5,000.00 from The Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission in Harrisburg.

The video received an Honorable Mention in the documentary and history categories of The Communicator Awards Contest. This Texas-based national program recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. The contest drew 3,312 entries from 47 states, the District of Columbia, and eight countries. It wasn't an Oscar winner, but in that stiff competition, it took on the status of an Oscar, to the folks back in the Palmerton area.

Since its production, over 700 videos have been sold and the format has been changed to a DVD.
